¤ Active Hexose Correlated Compound (AHCC) is the most popular immuno-stimulant supplement in Japan. We believe it is the most widely-recognized product in its field in the world. Hundreds of thousands of people have been using AHCC for over 15 years. AHCC has been the subject of in vitro, animal and clinical studies in over 30 universities and research institutes, and over 700 hospitals, both in Japan and the rest of the world.
¤ AHCC is a proprietary extract of cultured Basidiomycetes mushroom mycelia. This hybrid mushroom is cultivated in a laboratory conforming to GMP, ISO 9002 and HACCP standards. It contains a large number of active principles, including alpha- and beta-glucan derivatives which do not exist in traditional medicinal mushrooms. AHCC is also modified enzymatically to reduce its molecular weight to 5,000 Daltons and to facilitate absorption when taken orally. The immune system in a healthy body is able to eliminate cancerous cells. When the immune system is weakened, however, cancerous cells proliferate and secrete various immuno-suppressant factors. Conventional therapies (chemo and radiotherapy) further weaken the immune system.

Over a period of 15 years, research into AHCC has shown that:
> AHCC improves immune response through a number of mechanisms: it promotes the proliferation of macrophages and Natural Killer Cells, increasing their measurable activity by more than 300%. It induces and increases the production of beneficial cytokines including tumour necrosis factor (TNF-alpha), interferon gamma and interleukins 1, 2 and 12. It inhibits certain immuno-suppressing cytokines and improves the balance between Th1 and Th2 cells;

> AHCC improves symptoms in many serious liver diseases such as viral hepatitis, hepatitis C (85% reduction in viral load in 3 months) and fulminating hepatitis. It prevents the development of hepatitis into cirrhosis. It generally improves hepatic detoxification;
> AHCC reduces blood sugar levels in diabetics and normalises their levels of glycated haemoglobin, thus helping to prevent complications of diabetes;
> AHCC has proven anti-inflammatory effects in a range of diseases including rheumatoid arthritis. In an animal study it helped prevent the growth of Candida albicans. It improves immune parameters and quality of life in HIV patients.
